Enrique Gallardo
Last position:
Security Architect at Capgemini
I implemented a Zero-Trust architecture for robust, military-grade maritime container mini data centers based on VMware & Tanzu to support containerized GIS workloads for ground forces. The main focus was on securing communications, workload protection, and data access in contested electronic battle environments affected by jamming, interception, signal manipulation, and constantly changing operational conditions. I designed and architected use cases so that every element of workload, identity, and system could continue to operate independently and securely even in degraded or disrupted scenarios. In parallel, I defined the enterprise and solution security architecture with LeanIX, Bizzdesign, and HOPEX as enterprise architecture, repository, and governance platforms to maintain architecture inventory, relationships, traceability, target pictures, and security governance in complex environments. For the architectural designs, I used Sparx Enterprise Architect to describe formal architecture views, interfaces, trust boundaries, and system architecture in both IT and OT environments. IriusRisk was used for threat modeling of the solution to identify architecture-driven risks, derive security requirements, and detect countermeasures and design gaps directly from the solution models. Risk and compliance management was supported with Archer. Architecture decisions, control gaps, and operational risks were translated into controlled governance and auditable compliance measures. For documentation, collaboration, and visual design, I used Confluence to maintain Architecture Decision Records, Security Blueprints, and workflows. I used Lucidchart and draw.io to create design artifacts tailored to stakeholders. I also defined OT security concepts with support from electrical and mechanical engineers in the areas of oil, vehicle onboard systems, rail, power plants, pharma, gas turbines, and nuclear technology. I created the end-to-end OT security strategy, starting with global policy, developed into standards and procedures, and finally aligned with Bell-LaPadula, Purdue Model, SABSA, TOGAF ADM, CENELEC 50701, IEC 62443, and NIST standards. In addition, I worked with engineering team leads to identify critical KBP assets and place them under protective measures that segmented SCADA, PLC, and HMI assets. I drove collaboration between Security, IT, and OT teams to create standardized workflows and use cases for the OT security solution catalog, while integrating Defense-in-Depth and Zero-Trust principles into operational environments. A key part of my work was integrating multidisciplinary engineering, security, and operations stakeholders into a unified security blueprinting strategy and ensuring that architecture, threat modeling, governance, and documentation were technically strong and operationally practical.

About the technology
Enterprise Workflow Automation
ServiceNow operates as the central nervous system for modern enterprise operations. The platform consolidates disjointed legacy processes into digital workflows, connecting departments from IT to human resources. Specialists configure these systems to automate repetitive tasks, reduce operational friction, and improve service delivery across the entire organization.
Scope of Platform Capabilities
The platform spans multiple business functions beyond traditional IT service management. Specialists implement and customize targeted modules to address specific organizational challenges:
- IT Service Management for incident and change workflows
- IT Operations Management for infrastructure visibility
- Customer Service Management for external support tracking
- Human Resources Service Delivery for employee onboarding
- Strategic Portfolio Management for project alignment
Essential Technical Ecosystem
Customizing the platform requires deep familiarity with web technologies and database structures. Professionals work heavily with JavaScript, Angular, and HTML/CSS to build intuitive service portals. They also configure integrations using REST and SOAP web services, connect LDAP directories, and manage mid servers to bridge secure local networks with the cloud platform.
Indicators for Specialized Support
Organizations require external platform expertise during critical growth phases or system transitions.
- Migrating from legacy ticketing tools to a unified service portal
- Upgrading to the latest platform release family
- Integrating the workflow engine with external ERP or CRM software
- Building bespoke scoped applications for unique business logic
- Optimizing slow system performance and database queries
Local Integration in Hamburg
Hamburg companies, particularly in maritime logistics, aviation, and trade, rely on robust workflow automation to maintain supply chain efficiency. Specialists working in the Hamburg region understand the local preference for hybrid collaboration models. They ensure system configurations comply with European data privacy regulations while supporting both German and English service desks.
Quality Markers in Professionals
Top professionals stand out through their architectural understanding rather than simple configuration skills. They avoid excessive customization of the out-of-the-box features to ensure smooth future upgrades. Experienced specialists demonstrate strong communication skills, translating complex business processes into clean, maintainable technical configurations.
Frequently asked questions
What clients ask us most about ServiceNow — answered in short.
ServiceNow is a cloud-based platform designed to automate enterprise work processes and manage digital workflows. Organizations use it to streamline IT service delivery, track operational infrastructure, automate HR onboarding, and consolidate customer support channels into a single system.
While both track issues, ServiceNow excels at enterprise-wide workflow automation and deep IT operations management integrations. Jira Service Management is often preferred by agile software teams, whereas the former scales across HR, finance, and security departments with highly customizable data models.
A qualified ServiceNow professional needs strong JavaScript programming skills, knowledge of relational databases, and experience with integration protocols like REST. They should understand platform-specific features like Flow Designer, Business Rules, Client Scripts, and the Service Portal framework.
Many ServiceNow projects can be completed entirely remote, as configuration and development happen in cloud-hosted sandboxes. However, for initial business analysis and stakeholder alignment workshops, companies in Hamburg often prefer occasional on-site meetings to speed up requirements gathering.
Hiring a freelance ServiceNow expert provides direct access to hands-on configuration skills without the overhead costs of large consultancies. Freelancers offer flexible capacity, integrate directly into your internal teams, and focus purely on your specific implementation goals.
The platform releases major upgrades twice a year, which requires careful testing of existing customizations. A skilled ServiceNow specialist ensures your instance transitions smoothly to the latest release by identifying and fixing conflicts in upgraded scripts and out-of-the-box features.
Scoped applications are custom solutions built on the ServiceNow platform that run in their own private namespace. This architecture protects the core platform configurations from interference, making the custom application easier to maintain and safer during global system upgrades.
While the platform configuration and technical documentation are universally in English, ServiceNow specialists in Hamburg often benefit from speaking German. This is particularly helpful when gathering workflow requirements from local business units who use German-language service portals daily.
The average hourly rate of freelancers in Hamburg, Germany who have used ServiceNow in their recent projects is 106 €, which corresponds to a daily rate of about 848 € based on an 8-hour working day.
