Data Security

Hamburg
Enrique G.

Last position:

Security Architect at Capgemini

I implemented a Zero-Trust architecture for robust, military-grade maritime container mini data centers based on VMware & Tanzu to support containerized GIS workloads for ground forces. The main focus was on securing communications, workload protection, and data access in contested electronic battle environments affected by jamming, interception, signal manipulation, and constantly changing operational conditions. I designed and architected use cases so that every element of workload, identity, and system could continue to operate independently and securely even in degraded or disrupted scenarios. In parallel, I defined the enterprise and solution security architecture with LeanIX, Bizzdesign, and HOPEX as enterprise architecture, repository, and governance platforms to maintain architecture inventory, relationships, traceability, target pictures, and security governance in complex environments. For the architectural designs, I used Sparx Enterprise Architect to describe formal architecture views, interfaces, trust boundaries, and system architecture in both IT and OT environments. IriusRisk was used for threat modeling of the solution to identify architecture-driven risks, derive security requirements, and detect countermeasures and design gaps directly from the solution models. Risk and compliance management was supported with Archer. Architecture decisions, control gaps, and operational risks were translated into controlled governance and auditable compliance measures. For documentation, collaboration, and visual design, I used Confluence to maintain Architecture Decision Records, Security Blueprints, and workflows. I used Lucidchart and draw.io to create design artifacts tailored to stakeholders. I also defined OT security concepts with support from electrical and mechanical engineers in the areas of oil, vehicle onboard systems, rail, power plants, pharma, gas turbines, and nuclear technology. I created the end-to-end OT security strategy, starting with global policy, developed into standards and procedures, and finally aligned with Bell-LaPadula, Purdue Model, SABSA, TOGAF ADM, CENELEC 50701, IEC 62443, and NIST standards. In addition, I worked with engineering team leads to identify critical KBP assets and place them under protective measures that segmented SCADA, PLC, and HMI assets. I drove collaboration between Security, IT, and OT teams to create standardized workflows and use cases for the OT security solution catalog, while integrating Defense-in-Depth and Zero-Trust principles into operational environments. A key part of my work was integrating multidisciplinary engineering, security, and operations stakeholders into a unified security blueprinting strategy and ensuring that architecture, threat modeling, governance, and documentation were technically strong and operationally practical.

About the technology

What ServiceNow does

ServiceNow is a cloud platform for managing digital workflows across IT, employees, customers and business operations. Companies use it to replace disconnected requests, approvals and records with structured services, automation and measurable processes.

Core applications

The platform covers more than IT service management. Typical work includes:

  • Incident, problem and change management
  • Service catalogues, requests and approvals
  • Customer service and case workflows
  • HR service delivery and employee portals
  • IT operations, asset and configuration management

Platform and tooling

The Now Platform provides configurable tables, workflows, forms, portals, notifications, reports and role-based access. Strong specialists work with Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, Service Portal, UI Builder, Performance Analytics and the ServiceNow scripting model. They may also use REST and SOAP APIs, MID Servers and tools such as JavaScript, Git and automated testing services.

When companies need help

Freelance expertise is useful when an organisation is introducing ServiceNow, replacing legacy processes or extending an existing instance. Specialists can assess the current configuration, design a maintainable data model, migrate records, connect external systems and prepare teams for a controlled release. In Hamburg, this can support local organisations that need on-site workshops alongside remote delivery.

Delivery and governance

Good work starts with clear process ownership and a clean instance strategy. Professionals translate operational needs into workflows without excessive customisation, protect upgrade paths and document decisions. They also handle roles, groups, data quality, testing, release management and adoption across departments.

Choosing a strong specialist

Look for evidence of complete ServiceNow deliveries rather than isolated configuration tasks. A capable professional can explain why a feature, script or integration is appropriate, show how security and performance were considered, and connect technical choices to service outcomes. For Hamburg teams, fluent English may be sufficient for international work, while German can help with local workshops and stakeholder communication.

Frequently asked questions

What clients ask us most about ServiceNow — answered in short.

ServiceNow is used to manage IT services, employee requests, customer cases, assets, operations and other structured workflows. It gives teams shared records, approval paths, automation, service portals and reporting in one cloud environment.

ServiceNow is often selected when an organisation needs broad workflow management across IT, HR, customer service and operations. Jira Service Management is closely associated with Atlassian delivery workflows, while Salesforce is centred on customer and sales processes; the right choice depends on scope, existing systems and governance needs.

ServiceNow work often requires knowledge of JavaScript, REST and SOAP APIs, identity and access management, data migration, ITIL processes and release testing. Experience with enterprise integration, CMDB practices, reporting and change adoption is also valuable.

ServiceNow project needs vary with the scope, instance condition and number of integrations. A focused workflow extension may need a specialist for a defined delivery phase, while an implementation or major transformation calls for broader experience in architecture, governance, migration and stakeholder coordination.

ServiceNow projects can usually be delivered remotely because configuration, documentation, testing and many workshops take place online. On-site sessions in Hamburg can still be useful for process discovery, service design, training and decisions involving several business teams.

Now Platform work depends on the customer’s release, applications, plugins, customisations and access controls. Professionals should clarify the instance landscape, development and release process, integration boundaries, data responsibilities and whether the work involves configuration, scripting or both.

ServiceNow quality is visible in reliable workflows, clear permissions, useful data, tested integrations and documentation that another team can maintain. Ask for examples of upgrade-safe configuration, defect handling, performance decisions and measurable improvements to the supported service.

ServiceNow is the current product and company name associated with the platform formerly written as Service-now.com. Searchers may also refer to its wider ecosystem as the Now Platform, but the specific applications and release capabilities still need to be checked for each project.

The average hourly rate of freelancers in Hamburg, Germany who have used ServiceNow in their recent projects is 106 €, which corresponds to a daily rate of about 848 € based on an 8-hour working day.

Of the freelancers in Hamburg, Germany who have used ServiceNow in their recent projects, 75% hold at least a Bachelor's degree, 40% hold at least a Master's degree, and 5% hold a doctorate.
