Development of an AI-supported system for lead generation
As part of an in-house development project, a pipeline for automated lead generation was created as the second stage of a preceding system for project monitoring. Based on a list of freelance project URLs (freelancermap), qualified lead records are generated, including company, contact person, official and personal email address, and the appropriate form of address (informal/formal). The technologies used were Python (openpyxl, requests) as well as an LLM agent workflow in VS Code (GitHub Copilot Chat) with a custom slash command and extensive rule set; search APIs (Serper.dev) are connected for research. My tasks included the full concept and development. The core is a rule set of around 480 lines that guides the LLM agent deterministically through extraction, website and email lookup, duplicate matching (against existing provider lists), and the creation of a structured JSON output. Deterministic steps (Excel matching, web/email search, pattern derivation) were moved into Python helper scripts. Other requirements included validating the results through versioned blind runs against a reference, iterative refinement of the rule set, and a swappable search provider layer for cost and stability reasons.

About the technology
What XING does
XING is a professional networking platform focused on the German-speaking business market. Companies use it to present their employer brand, publish vacancies, reach relevant professionals and maintain business relationships. The platform is also known by its former name, openBC.
Company presence
A well-managed XING presence combines an accurate company profile with clear messaging about culture, roles and business topics. Specialists plan profile structures, editorial content and response processes so that the organisation appears credible to potential applicants, customers and professional contacts.
Recruiting workflows
XING supports targeted talent acquisition rather than broad, untargeted outreach. Freelance professionals can help companies with:
- Writing and refining vacancy content
- Identifying relevant professional audiences
- Managing messages and candidate follow-up
- Reviewing employer profile content
Tools and integrations
XING work often connects with applicant tracking systems, career sites, HR marketing tools and analytics workflows. Strong specialists understand campaign tracking, consent-aware data handling, content management and the practical limits of exporting or synchronising information from the platform.
When to bring in expertise
Companies often seek freelance support during a hiring campaign, employer-brand refresh or expansion into the German-speaking market. In Munich, collaboration may involve local recruiting teams, German-language content and a mix of on-site workshops with remote execution. External support is also useful when internal teams lack time to maintain XING consistently.
What good specialists deliver
The strongest professionals begin with a clear audience and measurable business purpose. They write natural German or English copy, keep company and vacancy information consistent, protect personal data and explain what the available platform functions can and cannot achieve. They also document workflows so internal teams can continue the work after handover.
Frequently asked questions
Need clarity? These are the questions we hear most often about XING.
Companies use XING for employer branding, vacancy promotion, professional networking and targeted outreach in German-speaking markets. It can support recruiting campaigns, company communication and relationship building with relevant business contacts.
XING is usually considered alongside LinkedIn when a company wants professional reach in Germany, Austria or Switzerland. The better choice depends on the target audience, available profiles, language, content strategy and the organisation’s existing recruiting process.
A strong XING specialist often combines social recruiting, employer branding, copywriting and applicant tracking system knowledge. Experience with campaign measurement, career sites, German-language communication and data protection practices is also valuable.
The right XING experience depends on the scope. Profile editing may need focused platform knowledge, while a recruiting or employer-branding programme calls for strategic planning, audience research, content production and workflow design.
Yes, XING work is often suitable for remote collaboration because profiles, content and campaign workflows are managed online. Munich-based teams may still prefer on-site workshops, especially when the project involves employer-brand positioning or close coordination with recruiting stakeholders.
A XING freelancer can add value when a company needs immediate capacity, a campaign-specific perspective or knowledge of the German-speaking professional market. Freelance support is especially practical during hiring peaks, profile migrations or employer-branding projects.
Review whether the XING specialist can show clear audience definitions, coherent profile and vacancy copy, sensible outreach processes and useful reporting. Ask how they handle personal data, measure campaign activity and adapt content without making unsupported claims.
XING was originally launched as openBC, a name still relevant when researching older profiles or documentation. The platform later adopted the XING name and became associated with New Work SE, its corporate owner.
The average hourly rate of freelancers in Munich, Germany who have used XING in their recent projects is 101 €, which corresponds to a daily rate of about 812 € based on an 8-hour working day.
