  • Accessibility expert in the field of UI/UX design, WCAG testing, and consulting for the Barrier-Free Accessibility Act (BFSG)
  • Creation of an internal accessibility guide

Oskar Oldorf (Project Manager): "I had the pleasure of working with Patricia for over a year on a project focused on ensuring digital accessibility for the online presence of a company in the financial services sector. During that time, I got to know her as a dedicated, detail-oriented, and highly skilled colleague.

Patricia was responsible for independently conducting gap analyses and worked directly and efficiently with key stakeholders. Her role centered on assessing compliance with the BFSG and providing strategic guidance to editorial teams on creating accessible content.

What I particularly appreciated about Patricia was her ability to think beyond the status quo and bring fresh perspectives to the table. She combines strong subject matter expertise with a keen eye for detail and a structured, thorough approach. Her input often sparked valuable discussions and helped us move our work forward in meaningful ways.

I can wholeheartedly recommend Patricia—especially for roles where precision, strategic thinking, and a high standard of quality are essential."

  • UX consulting, visual UI design, implementation of design optimizations in Angular and SCSS in close coordination with the development team
  • Editing of help texts for the "SynSICRIS" monitoring tool, based on the research information system DSpace-Cris

Recommendation Birge Wolf (Project Coordinator "SynSICRIS", University of Kassel): "Absolutely recommended! We have worked with Ms. Rex for 2.5 years since the beginning of 2021 to optimize the SynSICRIS monitoring tool and would integrate her expertise into our projects again at any time. Her deep and very comprehensive eye for all UI/UX aspects, from design to the wording of help texts, has provided excellent support for our project. The collaboration is characterized by reliability, friendliness, and a great joy in improving the software. The solutions she developed are extremely practical and were always to our full satisfaction. It is particularly noteworthy that Ms. Rex also integrated the UX/UI design she developed into the SCSS, HTML, and TypeScript code of the Angular framework, so the implementation was truly guaranteed. Ms. Rex is truly an all-rounder!"

  • Redesign of the "Web Universal Management Suite" admin console
  • Development of a design system with theming, color schemes, and a styleguide
  • Introduction of collaborative design processes with Figma

Recommendation Frank Biermann (Vice President Research and Development, IGEL Technology): "Patricia Rex joined the IGEL development team in January 2020 as an UI-/UX designer und quickly became acquainted with the complex topic of IGEL's Web Universal Management Suite (WUMS). In close collaboration with the product owner and the SCRUM team of software engineers Patricia helped us to carry out a modern esthetic concept for WUMS UI which became the best user interface IGEL Technology ever had! She designed a visual style including clear structuring of the contents, distinctive and understandable icons and a consistent use of colors and interactive states throughout the application. Her proposals for optimizing the user experience and her advices in implementing a CSS architecture were very helpful too. During the Covid-19 lockdown our collaboration continued smoothly, being completely remote. In June 2020 she finished with a detailed styleguide which is an excellent basis for our further development process. We are looking forward to continuing our productive cooperation after having pulled through the Covid-19 crisis."

Recommendation Florian Strobl (Senior Product Manager, IGEL Technology): " I am writing this letter to highly recommend Patricia Rex for her exceptional skills in design, particularly in building up a comprehensive design system, introducing a detailed color system, designing UI components, and proposing UX optimizations. Having had the privilege of working closely with Patricia Rex for more than two years, I can confidently attest to her outstanding abilities and unwavering dedication to her design work. Throughout our time working together at IGEL Technology, Patricia Rex consistently demonstrated a remark- able talent for establishing and implementing an overall design concept for our product that elevated the user experience. Her ability to create and enforce design guidelines ensured a cohesive and visually pleasing interface across multiple platforms like the Web App of our Universal Management Suite (UMS Web App). One of Patricia Rex’ notable achievements was the introduction of a highly detailed theming concept that greatly enriched our design language. Her keen eye for aesthetics and understanding of color theory al- lowed her to create a harmonious palette that resonated with our brand identity and evoked the desired emotions in our users. This meticulous approach to adjust the main colors by changing the color theme add- ed sophistication and flexibility to our products, making them visually engaging and memorable. Aside from her technical expertise, Patricia Rex is an exceptional team player who actively collaborates and communicates effectively with colleagues. She consistently exhibits a positive attitude, providing construc- tive feedback and support to fellow team members. In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend Patricia Rex for any position that requires a highly skilled and talented UI/UX designer. Her ability to build a comprehensive design system, introduce detailed color schemes, design UI components, and propose UX optimizations is truly exceptional. I have no doubt that she will be an asset to any team or organization she joins."

Peter Vieten (Scrum Master): "Patricia took our joint web application project to a new level. Even though she joined the project at a very late stage, she tackled the full range of UX/UI design. In doing so, she not only significantly improved both the user guidance and the layout but also brought structural clarity to the HTML and SCSS structure, enabling the team to continue working successfully even after she left the project. I would be very happy to work with Patricia again – preferably from the very beginning."

  • Website – complete implementation and ongoing updates

Sabine Bader (Journalist, Süddeutsche Zeitung): "Anyone ... who visits the new homepage of the Starnberg Puppet Theater experiences a 'blue miracle' in the truest sense of the word, because by touching the down arrow, they travel down into the depths of Lake Starnberg like an invisible glass elevator. On the bottom, a sparkling red crab and Kasperl talk to each other via speech bubbles ... But the crab is only afraid that Kasperl, with his clatter, will wake up the sea monster that has been slumbering at a depth of 127 meters for centuries."

Wolfgang Pusch (City Archivist and Director of the Starnberger Marionettentheater): "In 2017, Ms. Patricia Rex, Graduate Communication Designer, created her own website and set up a Facebook presence for the Starnberg Puppet Theater for the first time. The idea and content concept came from her, but she also carried out the technical implementation in all details completely independently. The result thrilled us, the ensemble: the main sections with their lively design, the individual topics with their precise texts and the – wherever possible generous – image layout, the loving details – whether the lake with Alpine backdrop, Kasperl in the waves, the unorthodox use of the Starnberg heraldic animal, the dive to the lake bottom down to Kasperl and the crab and finally, deep down, to the sea monster, the 'Wurm'. A great advantage here was that Ms. Rex is not only creative, but also very structured and precise."

Very nice and very pleasant cooperation. The website structure and its user-friendliness are particularly successful, for which we have already received a lot of praise. Ms. Rex has a very professional and structured way of working, with which she always kept the overall concept in mind despite the complexity of the topic. In UX, she is what we call a unicorn, able to go from user research til the nitty gritty of accessibility standards which end up being quite technical. Prof. Dr. Dietrich Wildung (Director of the Egyptian Museum and Papyrus Collection, State Museums of Berlin, Prussian Cultural Heritage): “The success of the online presence of the State Museum of Egyptian Art Munich (note by Patricia Rex: this was also created and maintained by me) led me to offer a separate website for the Egyptian Museum Berlin alongside its brief entry on the concise State Museums of Berlin website. Patricia Rex developed a concept whose special quality was based on an intensive engagement with the collection and its diverse program offerings. The design she created became a reflection of the museum’s artistic standing. In close contact with Patricia Rex, I was able to implement my vision of the museum optimally. As a representative, up-to-date platform for the museum, this website remains a highlight of museum presentation in Berlin to this day.”

  • Mobile museum guide: technical consulting, collaboration on concept development, creation of mockups as well as explanatory films and graphics (2010–2013)
  • Motion design: architectural projections, exhibition films, animated shows (Museum in Motion, Abrissarbeiten, Arte Animale, Totenkult)
  • Interactives & exhibition websites: interactive whiteboard applications, animations of literary readings, accessible project websites (Winckelmann and Egypt, Tonkünstler, Altägypten beGreifen, Last Exit Munich, Between Egypt and Africa)

Dr. Sylvia Schoske (Director of the State Museum of Egyptian Art Munich): "In 2000, the State Museum of Egyptian Art Munich commissioned Ms. Patricia Rex to create the museum's first website, which went online for the first 'Long Night of the Munich Museums' in 2001, making it one of the first state museum websites in Bavaria. With its subtle animations and hieroglyph-inspired, atmospheric design, it was long considered one of the most innovative museum websites, not just in Bavaria. From then on, Ms. Rex managed and continuously expanded this website for almost two decades until the end of 2018. She developed a standalone mobile version for smartphones, gave it a flexible and later responsive layout, created an online shop through which publications and merchandise items were sold for many years, implemented a content management system, and over the years added numerous dynamic and user-friendly features. On the occasion of the museum's move from the Residenz to the Munich art district, she designed a 2013 redesign that matched the architecture of the new building and was again very well received. Alongside content and design, Ms. Rex handled many other technical aspects such as web server management, data security, website accessibility, and web statistics analysis. During this time, Ms. Rex was a dedicated member of the museum team; she took photos and filmed at numerous events in the main building and branch museums, wrote event reports for the website, and repeatedly contributed ideas and suggestions. Over the years, the website's archive also became an important 'reference tool' for museum staff. In addition to the museum's main site, Ms. Rex created numerous 'internet specials,' often with playful interaction and animation, including 18 standalone websites for special exhibitions. Examples include the equally entertaining and informative theatre-style website for the travelling exhibition 'Winckelmann and Egypt,' the game 'Tonkünstler' for the exhibition on ceramic objects in Ancient Egypt, where the user navigates a boat through various everyday scenes from Ancient Egypt, or the website for the 'Altägypten (be)greifen' exhibition, which, like the exhibition itself, is optimized for the visually impaired. Furthermore, Ms. Rex created animated films for various occasions and supported the team conceptually and in design in the development of the mobile museum guide."
