  • Accessibility expert in the field of UI/UX design, WCAG testing, and consulting for the Accessibility Strengthening Act
  • Creation of an internal accessibility guide

Oskar Oldorf (project lead): "I had the pleasure of working with Patricia for over a year on a project focused on ensuring digital accessibility for the online presence of a company in the financial services sector. During that time, I got to know her as a dedicated, detail-oriented, and highly skilled colleague.

Patricia was responsible for independently conducting gap analyses and worked directly and efficiently with key stakeholders. Her role centered on assessing compliance with the BFSG and providing strategic guidance to editorial teams on creating accessible content.

What I particularly appreciated about Patricia was her ability to think beyond the status quo and bring fresh perspectives to the table. She combines strong subject matter expertise with a keen eye for detail and a structured, thorough approach. Her input often sparked valuable discussions and helped us move our work forward in meaningful ways.

I can wholeheartedly recommend Patricia—especially for roles where precision, strategic thinking, and a high standard of quality are essential."

  • UX consulting, visual UI design, implementation of design optimizations in Angular and SCSS in close coordination with the development team
  • Editing help texts for the monitoring tool "SynSICRIS", based on the research information system DSpace-Cris

Recommendation from Birge Wolf (coordinator of the project "SynSICRIS, University of Kassel): "Absolutely recommendable! Since the beginning of 2021, we worked with Ms. Rex for 2.5 years on optimizing the SynSICRIS monitoring tool and would involve her expertise in our projects again at any time. Her in-depth and very comprehensive understanding of all UI/UX aspects, from design to the wording of help texts, has provided excellent support for our project. The cooperation is marked by reliability, friendliness, and a great joy in improving the software. The solutions she developed are extremely practical and were always to our complete satisfaction. It is especially noteworthy that Ms. Rex also incorporated the UX/UI design she developed into the SCSS, HTML, and TypeScript code of the Angular framework, so that the implementation was truly guaranteed. Ms. Rex is truly a all-round talent!"

  • Redesign of the admin console "Web Universal Management Suite"
  • Building a design system with theming, color logic, and style guide
  • Introduction of collaborative design processes with Figma

Recommendation from Frank Biermann (Vice President Research and Development, IGEL Technology): "Patricia Rex joined the IGEL development team in January 2020 as an UI-/UX designer and quickly became acquainted with the complex topic of IGEL's Web Universal Management Suite (WUMS). In close collaboration with the product owner and the SCRUM team of software engineers Patricia helped us to carry out a modern aesthetic concept for WUMS UI which became the best user interface IGEL Technology ever had! She designed a visual style including clear structuring of the contents, distinctive and understandable icons and a consistent use of colors and interactive states throughout the application. Her proposals for optimizing the user experience and her advice on implementing a CSS architecture were very helpful too. During the Covid-19 lockdown our collaboration continued smoothly, being completely remote. In June 2020 she finished with a detailed styleguide which is an excellent basis for our further development process. We are looking forward to continuing our productive cooperation after having pulled through the Covid-19 crisis."

Recommendation from Florian Strobl (Senior Product Manager, IGEL Technology): " I am writing this letter to highly recommend Patricia Rex for her exceptional skills in design, particularly in building up a comprehensive design system, introducing a detailed color system, designing UI components, and proposing UX optimizations. Having had the privilege of working closely with Patricia Rex for more than two years, I can confidently attest to her outstanding abilities and unwavering dedication to her design work. Throughout our time working together at IGEL Technology, Patricia Rex consistently demonstrated a remarkable talent for establishing and implementing an overall design concept for our product that elevated the user experience. Her ability to create and enforce design guidelines ensured a cohesive and visually pleasing interface across multiple platforms like the Web App of our Universal Management Suite (UMS Web App). One of Patricia Rex’ notable achievements was the introduction of a highly detailed theming concept that greatly enriched our design language. Her keen eye for aesthetics and understanding of color theory allowed her to create a harmonious palette that resonated with our brand identity and evoked the desired emotions in our users. This meticulous approach to adjust the main colors by changing the color theme added sophistication and flexibility to our products, making them visually engaging and memorable. Aside from her technical expertise, Patricia Rex is an exceptional team player who actively collaborates and communicates effectively with colleagues. She consistently exhibits a positive attitude, providing constructive feedback and support to fellow team members. In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend Patricia Rex for any position that requires a highly skilled and talented UI/UX designer. Her ability to build a comprehensive design system, introduce detailed color schemes, design UI components, and propose UX optimizations is truly exceptional. I have no doubt that she will be an asset to any team or organization she joins."

Peter Vieten (Scrum Master): "Patricia took the joint web application project to a new level. Although she joined the project at a very late stage, she tackled the entire range of UX/UI design. In the process, she not only improved both the user guidance and the layout in a decisive way, but also brought structural clarity to the HTML and SCSS structure, which enables the team to continue working successfully even after her departure from the project. I would be incredibly happy to work with Patricia again - ideally from the very beginning."

Sabine Bader (journalist at Süddeutsche Zeitung): "Whoever ... opens the new homepage of the Starnberg Marionette Theatre experiences, quite literally, a blue wonder, because the moment they click the down arrow, they travel like in an invisible glass elevator down into the depths of Lake Starnberg. On the bottom, a sparkling red crab and Kasperl talk via speech bubbles ... But the crab is only afraid that Kasperl, with all his clatter, will wake the lake monster that has been sleeping for centuries at a depth of 127 meters."

Wolfgang Pusch (city archivist and director of the Starnberg Marionette Theatre): "In 2017, Ms. Dipl.-Kommunikationsdesignerin Patricia Rex created both a dedicated website and a Facebook presence for the Starnberg Marionette Theatre for the first time. The idea and the content concept came from her, but she also handled the technical implementation completely on her own in every detail. The result delighted us, the ensemble: the main sections with their lively design, the individual topics with their precise texts and the – wherever possible generous – use of images, the loving details – whether the lake with the alpine backdrop, Kasperl in the water, the unconventional use of the Starnberg coat of arms animal, the dive down to the lake bed to Kasperl and the crab and finally, deep down, to the lake monster, the “worm”. It was a great advantage that Ms. Rex was not only creative, but also very structured and precise"

Very nice and very pleasant collaboration. The website structure and its user-friendliness are particularly successful, and we have already received a lot of praise for them. Ms. Rex has a very professional and structured way of working, which meant that despite the complexity of the topic, she always kept the overall concept in view. In UX, she is what we call a unicorn, able to go from user research til the nitty gritty of accessibility standards which end up being quite technical. • Ongoing maintenance until 2014 The website still exists and is still maintained by museum staff.

Prof. Dr. Dietrich Wildung (Director of the Egyptian Museum and Papyrus Collection, National Museums in Berlin, Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation): "The success of the online presence of the State Museum of Egyptian Art Munich (note from Patricia Rex: this was also created and maintained by me) led me to offer the Egyptian Museum Berlin its own website in addition to its short entry on the very sparse website of the National Museums in Berlin. Patricia Rex developed a concept whose special quality was based on her intensive engagement with the collection and its wide-ranging program. The design she created became a reflection of the museum's artistic standing. In close contact with Patricia Rex, I was able to realize my vision of the museum in the best possible way. As a representative, up-to-date platform for the museum, this website in Berlin is still a highlight of museum self-presentation today."

  • Mobile museum guide: technical consulting, work on the concept, creation of mockups as well as explanatory films and graphics (2010–2013)
  • Motion design: architectural projections, exhibition films, animated shows (Museum in Motion, Demolition Works, Arte Animale, Funerary Cult)
  • Interactives & exhibition websites: interactive whiteboard applications, animations for literary readings, accessible project websites (Winckelmann and Egypt, Tonkünstler, Ancient Egypt to Touch, Last Exit Munich, Between Egypt and Africa)

Dr. Sylvia Schoske (Director of the State Museum of Egyptian Art Munich): "In 2000, the State Museum of Egyptian Art Munich commissioned Ms. Patricia Rex to create the museum's first website, which then went online for the first time at the first "Long Night of the Munich Museums" in 2001, at the time as one of the first websites of a state museum in Bavaria. With its subtle animations and atmospheric design that played with hieroglyphs, it was long regarded as one of the most innovative museum websites – not only in Bavaria. From then on, Ms. Rex looked after this website for almost two decades, until the end of 2018, and continuously expanded it. She developed a stand-alone mobile version for smartphones, gave it a flexible and later a responsive layout, created an online shop through which publications and merchandise articles were sold for many years, set up a content management system, and over the years expanded the website with numerous dynamic and user-friendly functions. On the occasion of the museum's move from the Residence to the Munich art district, she created a redesign in 2013 that matched the architecture of the new building and was once again very well received. In addition to content and design, Ms. Rex took care of many other technical aspects such as managing the web server, data security and the website's accessibility, as well as analyzing web statistics. During this time, Ms. Rex was a committed member of the museum team, took photos and filmed at many events in the main building and the branch museums, created event reports for the website, and kept contributing ideas and suggestions. Over the years, the website archive also became an important "reference work" for museum staff. In addition to the museum's main site, Ms. Rex created numerous "internet specials", often with playful interaction and animation, including 18 standalone websites for special exhibitions alone. Examples include the equally entertaining and informative website in the style of a theatre performance for the traveling exhibition "Winckelmann and Egypt", the game "Tonkünstler" for the exhibition of the same name about ceramic objects in ancient Egypt, in which the viewer steers a boat through various scenes from daily life in ancient Egypt, or the website for the exhibition "Ancient Egypt to Touch", which, like the exhibition itself, is optimized for blind users. In addition, Ms. Rex created animated films for various occasions and supported the team conceptually and visually in the development of the mobile museum guide."
