  • Accessibility expert in UI/UX design, WCAG testing, and consulting for the Barrier-Free Strengthening Act
  • Creation of an internal accessibility guide

Oskar Oldorf (Project Manager): "I had the pleasure of working with Patricia for over a year on a project focused on ensuring digital accessibility for the online presence of a company in the financial services sector. During that time, I got to know her as a dedicated, detail-oriented, and highly skilled colleague.

Patricia was responsible for independently conducting gap analyses and worked directly and efficiently with key stakeholders. Her role centered on assessing compliance with the BFSG and providing strategic guidance to editorial teams on creating accessible content.

What I particularly appreciated about Patricia was her ability to think beyond the status quo and bring fresh perspectives to the table. She combines strong subject matter expertise with a keen eye for detail and a structured, thorough approach. Her input often sparked valuable discussions and helped us move our work forward in meaningful ways.

I can wholeheartedly recommend Patricia—especially for roles where precision, strategic thinking, and a high standard of quality are essential."

Recommendation Birge Wolf (Coordinator of the "SynSICRIS" project, University of Kassel): "Absolutely recommendable! Since early 2021, we have worked for 2.5 years with Ms. Rex on optimizing the SynSICRIS monitoring tool, and we would gladly involve her expertise in our projects again at any time. Her deep and comprehensive view of all UI/UX aspects, from design to formulating help texts, has excellently supported our project. The collaboration is characterized by reliability, friendliness, and a great enthusiasm for improving software. The solutions she developed are extremely practical and were always to our fullest satisfaction. Particularly noteworthy is that Ms. Rex also integrated the UX/UI designs she developed into the SCSS, HTML, and TypeScript code of the Angular framework, ensuring implementation was truly guaranteed. • Redesign of the admin console "Web Universal Management Suite"
  • Development of a design system with theming, color scheme, and style guide
  • Introduction of collaborative design processes with Figma

Recommendation Frank Biermann (Vice President Research and Development, IGEL Technology): "Patricia Rex joined the IGEL development team in January 2020 as an UI-/UX designer und quickly became acquainted with the complex topic of IGEL's Web Universal Management Suite (WUMS). In close collaboration with the product owner and the SCRUM team of software engineers Patricia helped us to carry out a modern esthetic concept for WUMS UI which became the best user interface IGEL Technology ever had! She designed a visual style including clear structuring of the contents, distinctive and understandable icons and a consistent use of colors and interactive states throughout the application. Her proposals for optimizing the user experience and her advices in implementing a CSS architecture were very helpful too. During the Covid-19 lockdown our collaboration continued smoothly, being completely remote. In June 2020 she finished with a detailed styleguide which is an excellent basis for our further development process. We are looking forward to continuing our productive cooperation after having pulled through the Covid-19 crisis."

Recommendation Florian Strobl (Senior Product Manager, IGEL Technology): " I am writing this letter to highly recommend Patricia Rex for her exceptional skills in design, particularly in building up a comprehensive design system, introducing a detailed color system, designing UI components, and proposing UX optimizations. Having had the privilege of working closely with Patricia Rex for more than two years, I can confidently attest to her outstanding abilities and unwavering dedication to her design work. Throughout our time working together at IGEL Technology, Patricia Rex consistently demonstrated a remark- able talent for establishing and implementing an overall design concept for our product that elevated the user experience. Her ability to create and enforce design guidelines ensured a cohesive and visually pleasing interface across multiple platforms like the Web App of our Universal Management Suite (UMS Web App). One of Patricia Rex’ notable achievements was the introduction of a highly detailed theming concept that greatly enriched our design language. Her keen eye for aesthetics and understanding of color theory al- lowed her to create a harmonious palette that resonated with our brand identity and evoked the desired emotions in our users. This meticulous approach to adjust the main colors by changing the color theme add- ed sophistication and flexibility to our products, making them visually engaging and memorable. Aside from her technical expertise, Patricia Rex is an exceptional team player who actively collaborates and communicates effectively with colleagues. She consistently exhibits a positive attitude, providing construc- tive feedback and support to fellow team members. In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend Patricia Rex for any position that requires a highly skilled and talented UI/UX designer. Her ability to build a comprehensive design system, introduce detailed color schemes, design UI components, and propose UX optimizations is truly exceptional. I have no doubt that she will be an asset to any team or organization she joins."

Recommendation Peter Vieten (Scrum Master): "Patricia took the joint web application project to a new level. Although she joined the project at a very late stage, she tackled the entire range of UX/UI design. In doing so, she not only decisively improved both the user flow and the layout, but she also brought structural clarity to the HTML and SCSS structure, enabling the team to work successfully even after her departure from the project. I would be thrilled to work with Patricia again—preferably from the very beginning."

Sabine Bader (journalist at Süddeutsche Zeitung): "Anyone who... opens the new homepage of the Starnberger Marionettenbühne experiences, in the truest sense of the word, a blue wonder: when they touch the down arrow, they travel down like in an invisible glass elevator to the depths of Lake Starnberg. On the bottom, a sparkling red crab and Kasperl chat via speech bubbles... The crab, however, is only afraid that Kasperl’s clattering will wake the lake monster that has been sleeping for centuries at a depth of 127 meters."

Wolfgang Pusch (city archivist and director of the Starnberger Marionettentheater): "In 2017, Ms. Dipl.-Communication Designer Patricia Rex created the Starnberger Marionettentheater’s first website and also set up a Facebook presence. The idea and content concept came from her, and she handled the technical implementation in every detail entirely on her own. The result thrilled us, the ensemble: the main sections with their lively design, the individual topics with their precise texts and the – wherever possible – generous image selection, the charming details – whether the lake with the Alpine backdrop, Kasperl in the waves, the unorthodox use of the Starnberg coat of arms animal, the dive to the lake bed down to Kasperl and the crab and finally, deep down, to the lake monster, the 'worm.' It was a major advantage that Ms. Rex was not only creative but also very structured and precise"

A very nice and pleasant collaboration. The website structure and its user-friendliness turned out particularly well, and we’ve already received a lot of praise for it. Ms. Rex has a very professional and structured way of working, with which she always kept the overall concept in mind despite the complexity of the topic. Prof. Dr. Dietrich Wildung (Director of the Egyptian Museum and Papyrus Collection, National Museums in Berlin, Prussian Cultural Heritage): "The success of the online presence of the State Museum of Egyptian Art in Munich (note from Patricia Rex: this was also created and maintained by me) led me to offer the Egyptian Museum in Berlin its own website, in addition to its brief entry on the very concise National Museums in Berlin website. Patricia Rex developed a concept whose special quality was based on a deep engagement with the collection and its diverse program offerings. Her design became a mirror of the museum's artistic stature. Through close collaboration with Patricia Rex, I was able to realize my vision of the museum perfectly. As a representative, up-to-date platform for the museum, this website remains a highlight of museum self-presentation in Berlin to this day."

  • Concept, design, editing, photography, frontend, backend, server administration
  • Online presence: planning, design, technical production, server administration, several relaunches, temporary mobile version, ongoing expansions and content maintenance
  • Mobile museum guide: technical consulting, collaboration on concept, creating mockups as well as explanatory films and graphics (2010–2013)
  • Motion design: architectural projections, exhibition films, animated shows (Museum in Motion, Demolition Works, Arte Animale, Cult of the Dead)
  • Interactives & exhibition websites: interactive whiteboard applications, animations of literary readings, accessible project websites (Winckelmann and Egypt, Tonkünstler, Grasping Ancient Egypt (beGreifen), Last Exit Munich, Between Egypt and Africa)

Dr. Sylvia Schoske (Director of the State Museum of Egyptian Art Munich): "The State Museum of Egyptian Art Munich commissioned Ms. Patricia Rex in 2000 to create the museum's first website, which went online for the first time at the first 'Long Night of Munich Museums' in 2001, making it one of the first websites of a state museum in Bavaria. With its subtle animations and a design that artfully played with hieroglyphs, it was long regarded as one of the most innovative museum websites—not just in Bavaria. From then on, Ms. Rex managed this website for almost two decades, until the end of 2018, continuously expanding it. She developed a standalone mobile version for smartphones, gave it a flexible and later a responsive layout, created an online shop selling publications and merchandise items for many years, implemented a content management system, and added numerous dynamic and user-friendly features over the years. On the occasion of the museum's move from the Residence to the Munich Kunstareal in 2013, she created a redesign matching the architecture of the new building, which was again very well received. In addition to content and design, Ms. Rex took care of many other technical aspects such as web server management, data security and website accessibility, as well as the analysis of web statistics. During this time, Ms. Rex was a dedicated member of the museum team, photographing and filming at numerous events in the main building and in the branch museums, writing event reports for the website, and constantly bringing in ideas and suggestions. Over the years, the website archive also became an important 'reference work' for museum staff. In addition to the museum's main site, Ms. Rex created numerous 'internet specials', often with playful interaction and animation, including 18 standalone websites for special exhibitions alone. Examples include the equally entertaining and informative site in the style of a theater performance for the traveling exhibition 'Winckelmann and Egypt', the game 'Tonkünstler' for the exhibition of the same name on ceramic objects in ancient Egypt, in which the viewer steers a boat through various ancient Egyptian everyday scenes, or the website for the exhibition 'Grasping Ancient Egypt', which, like the exhibition itself, is optimized for the blind. In addition, Ms. Rex created animated films for various occasions and supported the team conceptually and in terms of design in the development of the mobile museum guide."
