Description
Current monitoring of network elements is done primarily through traditional query-based methods (e.g., SNMP polling). These hit their limits with growing data volumes because they have high latencies and burden the network elements' CPUs. A central, high-performance platform for correlating and long-term storage of telemetry data is missing.
Project goal The goal is to implement a TIG stack that receives network data via streaming telemetry (push method). This enables high-resolution monitoring in near real time, efficient storage of large time series data, and intuitive visualization of performance metrics.
- Scope & Milestones
The focus is on the technical integration and configuration of the three core components:
Telegraf: Installation and configuration as a collector for gNMI, SNMP, or Netflow data. InfluxDB: Setup of the time series database. Grafana: Creation of dynamic dashboards and setup of an alerting system.
Milestone 1: Provisioning of the server infrastructure and installation of software components. Milestone 2: Successful data reception from the first pilot network elements. Milestone 3: Creation of dashboards and setup of a weathermap. Milestone 4: Final acceptance of dashboards and handover to operations.
Requirements
- Experience building and implementing a TIG stack for other clients
- Degree in computer science or equivalent technical training with relevant professional experience in the telecommunications industry
- Experience with Cisco and/or Juniper systems
- Solid knowledge of IP and MPLS network technologies
- Experience in designing VoIP, data, and IPTV networks, as well as the necessary QoS concepts is a plus
- Project management methods and techniques
