CFO Consulting (m/f/d)

Consulting of the CFO of a telecommunications company and its subsidiaries (Access business unit) regarding optimization of financial management and the further strategic direction of the Access business.

Project background: The client has entered the German market as a new mobile network operator. Since the client has not been in this complex field for long, they want an external expert to analyze and assess the current processes and methods to identify and unlock potential improvements.

Consulting context and objectives:

The consulting covers all areas of financial activities in customer-facing units, including the implementation of 5G, process digitization and compliance with regulatory requirements, with the goal of improving efficiency and profitability.

The analysis and optimization includes the following areas:

Optimization of financial management and control:

• Advising on optimizing processes for all financial operations in the Access segment to drive net growth, increase service revenues and improve overall profitability, especially by enhancing transparency of profit and loss statements and providing targeted, early forecasts to make corresponding recommendations to the client
• Advising to improve timely and complete financial closings
• Advising on optimizing and managing intercompany processes

Consulting on optimizing strategic and operational leadership regarding:

• Promoting cross-functional collaboration to avoid silo structures and ensure efficient cooperation models
• Advising on optimizing company-wide cost efficiency programs and their financial implementation
• Advising on the development and implementation of digital and technological transformation initiatives in finance

Consulting on other strategic topics:

• Optimization of digitization and transformation:
• Advising on specific related projects for digitizing control and planning tools
• Advising on accelerating and optimizing digital transformation in finance
• Optimization of MNO transformation:
• Advising on financial management of modernization of the mobile network operator (MNO) infrastructure
• Advising on optimizing prioritization and management of investments within the transformation
• Optimization regarding industry-specific challenges:
• Advising on adapting to market dynamics and technological developments in the telecommunications industry
• Advising on optimizing processes and measures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and legal standards

Analytical & strategic consulting

• Advising on identifying and providing solid financial insights to prepare and support business decisions
• Advising on further development, optimization and implementation of strategic financial plans to achieve company goals more effectively and quickly
• Advising on optimizing processes and projects with cross-functional stakeholders and organizational units to align financial strategies with overall business objectives, with clear and transparent communication with stakeholders at all levels
• Proactively identifying improvement opportunities in the areas described

• Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration or a related field; an MBA or comparable advanced degree is a plus.
• At least 10 years of experience in senior finance leadership roles, preferably in the telecommunications industry with a strong focus on end-customer business areas.
• Proven success in leading financial operations and delivering results in a complex and dynamic business environment.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire teams and achieve shared goals.
• Experience in a matrix organization with strong relationship management skills to successfully execute projects.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to use financial data for decision-making.
• Fluent German and good English skills are mandatory.
