I was brought in to steady and restructure a £70m, 21-site restaurant and real estate portfolio. I inherited depleting cash reserves and a gridlocked stakeholder base where founders, shareholders and lenders were deadlocked over debt covenants and lack of coherent reporting. I replaced an outgrown, centralised setup with a bespoke franchise model which shifted financial risk off the core balance sheet and helped rebuilding site economics from the bottom up.

As Group MD, I ran full P&L and corporate development for a sustainable community food and market venture. While the founder focused on global brand advocacy, I was the hands-on operator responsible for the whole business, handling national and international site expansion, curating quality, recruiting and managing traders, as well as public-realm engagement.
- Start-up and Expansion Infrastructure. I built the unit economics of the first site, designed and managed a regional and international expansion by negotiating joint ventures in Greater London, Europe and the US, including closing a €5.5m German JV. Day-one spreadsheets were replaced with a full ERP system and BI dashboards, bringing in a Big-Four firm for financial support to an entrepreneurial, fast-moving venture.
- Local Authority Alliances. We served as the primary operational partner for Southwark, Newham, Westminster, and Redbridge Councils. We managed and resolved deep-seated residents' objections regarding noise and footfall by redesigning community programming and local trader ecosystems, involving and nurturing local entrepreneurs.
- Public-Realm Flagship. I steered an ambitious regeneration project starting with initial engagement with Redbridge Council's regeneration team, through a competitive bid for a 600-seat covered market co-funded by the Mayor of London's Good Growth Fund, to its integration into the wider “Spark Ilford” masterplan. I personally ran the design competition to bypass slow procurement, then managed the direct sourcing and border customs clearance of the European CLT and polycarbonate materials.

Summary
I operate at the cross of Real Estate and consumers, specialising in how retail and leisure destination real estate performs in the 10 years after completion. My strength is reconciling hands-on placemaking and day-to-day operation with the commercial, legal and restructuring discipline most place practitioners lack. I work most naturally on operating-partner and market entry mandates, where asset management means building and creating value, not just administering it.
As Group MD of Mercato Metropolitano, I led our UK and international footprint, served as delivery partner to four London boroughs and scaled the concept from zero to £23m in pre-COVID revenue. I subsequently led the restructuring of a £70m, 21-site hospitality and real estate group, rebuilding it around a redesigned franchise model and concluding the mandate successfully. My career spans nearly three decades across hospitality and real estate turnarounds, private equity structures and cross-border finance. I am fluent in the language sponsors work in, such as running assets to their value-creation thesis, operating inside a leveraged structure and holding institutional-grade governance and reporting.
At the end of 2025, I temporary stepped back from operations to finish The Re-Alignment Era (CiViDAR Media, 2026), a book which distils what two decades in senior leadership taught me about effort, leverage and consequence, while continuing to advise businesses on occupation strategies and operational risk.
