Sebastian Papke-Freelance Technical Writer and CE Coordinator

I am a freelance Technical Writer (M. A.) and CE Coordinator. I mainly work for documentation service providers and direct clients in the machinery and plant engineering sector.

My work as a Technical Writer covers the entire documentation process: from the initial kick-off meeting, through content research, document creation, and translation management, to the final delivery. To ensure maximum legal certainty and valid results, I conduct targeted research on documentation-relevant standards, guidelines, and laws throughout the project. Examples of documents I have created include operating, assembly, and software manuals, as well as online help and infographics.

My role as a CE Coordinator involves developing a risk assessment based on Annex I of the Machinery Directive (and, depending on the project, additional directives). I compile the essential requirements of the applicable standards, directives, and laws and prepare all necessary documents (risk assessment, nameplate, declaration of conformity). The CE compliance process is a team effort, so I work closely with all involved departments.

In projects, I work in a very structured way and always aim to standardize processes, data creation, and data maintenance to achieve optimal results in a reasonable timeframe. I follow a process-oriented approach where transparency, measurability, and meeting deadlines have the highest priority. To stay as close as possible to the product, I collaborate with all development and production teams and independently gather the necessary information. My work is theory-driven but always practice-oriented with an eye for detail. I am a power user of common authoring and illustration tools and strive to enable maximum automation across software and make life easier for colleagues with simple, self-explanatory template documents.

My strengths lie especially in writing, creating layouts, template documents, and graphics, modularizing content, and visually representing complex topics. I also have extensive experience in researching standards and regulations. I can create technical documentation and CE documentation in compliance with guidelines, standards, and target audience requirements, covering all workflow steps. If desired, I can also support quality management and contribute a lot of know-how. My strengths here are defining processes and building and maintaining the required QM system documentation (keywords: process maps, fillable and signable PDF forms, job descriptions, etc.).

I am a cheerful, active, and open-minded person who welcomes new challenges. With a good dose of diligence, I actively contribute to projects and am always open to innovations and new ideas.
