Sebastian P.-Freelance Technical Writer and CE Coordinator

I am a freelance Technical Writer (M.A.) and CE Coordinator. I mainly work for documentation service providers and direct customers in machine and plant engineering.

My work as a Technical Writer covers the full range of documentation creation, maintenance, and delivery: from the first kickoff meeting, through content research, document creation, and translation management, all the way to the final delivery of the documents. To achieve the greatest possible legal certainty and valid results, I carry out targeted research on documentation-relevant standards, directives, and laws throughout the project. Examples of documents I create are operating manuals, assembly manuals, software manuals, as well as online help and infographics.

My work as a CE Coordinator consists of developing a risk assessment based on Annex I of the Machinery Directive (depending on the project, also others). I compile the essential requirements of the applicable standards, directives, and laws and prepare all required documents (risk assessment, nameplate, declaration of conformity). The CE compliance process is teamwork, so I work in close coordination with all involved departments.

In projects, I work in a very structured way and always strive to standardize processes, data creation, and data maintenance so that I can achieve optimal results in a reasonable processing time. I work according to a process-oriented approach in which transparency and measurability, as well as meeting deadlines, have top priority. To stay as close to the product as possible, I work together with all development and execution teams and independently gather the information I need. My work is theory-based but always practical and with an eye for detail. I am a power user of common authoring and illustration tools and try to enable as much automation as possible across software systems and make life easier for employees with simple, self-explanatory template documents.

My strengths lie especially in text editing, creating layouts, template documents and graphics, modularizing content, and visually presenting complex issues. In addition, I have a lot of experience in researching directives and standards. I am able to create technical documentation and CE documents in line with directives, standards, and target groups, and I can cover all process steps in the workflow. If desired, I can also support quality management and contribute a great deal of know-how here. My strengths here are especially in defining processes and building the required documentation and maintaining the QM system (keywords: process maps, fillable and signable PDF forms, job descriptions, etc.).

I am a cheerful, sporty, active, and open-minded person and I like taking on new challenges. With a good amount of hard work, I get actively involved in projects and am always open to innovation and new ideas.
