• The project takes place in the technical environment of BIPRO, SQL databases and Oracle Forms applications. The assigned work includes backend development and technical further development in the above project with the following tasks:

• The customer consolidates productive data from several branches into a shared data model.
• At the same time, the business consistency of the data is being evaluated. For this, the integrity rules are discussed with the business departments and implemented in PL/SQL code. Found inconsistencies are sent to Jira via REST API.
• My role: review of the existing data, documentation of the business rules, definition and implementation of the processing procedure, communication and coordination with the stakeholders, commissioning and initial support.

• Consulting and Oracle administration. For the end customer (aviation), an Oracle 11g environment with about 30 databases (test/integration/production) is being set up and operated by a team of 3 people.
• Team support, leading of regular meetings, requirement analysis and concepts

• This collaboration lasted over 2 years. During this time I worked in the migration team, with changing roles depending on the requirements.
• 1. Work as an Oracle consultant in the migration project. The topic was the creation of ETL software for migrating CRM data from a third-party system to Siebel 7.8: performance tuning of the application at SQL and PL/SQL level, optimization of the database design. Creation of PL/SQL modules and SQL scripts for data migration, documentation and unit tests. Change management (Rational Clear Quest), handling defects, support during the go-live phase.
• 2. Technical design, concept, implementation and documentation for a subproject (incremental data backup via CSV interface).
• 3. Concept and implementation of a prototype application (proof of concept) for an address matching process. The customer's requirement was to use Trillium TS Discovery and Trillium TS Quality as the platform. These products were unknown at the time, so the needed basic knowledge had to be built first. For that reason, I worked closely with the customer and the software vendor. The prototype was successfully created, documented and presented in a workshop with the customer.
• 4. Performance analysis and identification of bottlenecks in the movement of bulk data over EAI interfaces (IBM Websphere MQ). The goal was to create a performance estimate for the best possible data throughput. In workshops and in discussions with colleagues, the needed deeper knowledge about how Websphere MQ works was gained. The analysis was based on log data. Various performance-related connections could be identified and shown. Final documentation and presentation of the results to the customer.
• 5. Consulting and mediation for special data security questions. There was a conflict of interest between the data security requirements and data availability, each represented by different teams on the customer side. Communication and project progress were blocked. By analyzing the positions, requirements and interests of those involved, by suggesting how these interests could be implemented with technical means, and through mediating communication, I was able to help resolve the situation.
• 6. System testing of migration software, test concepts and execution, and documentation.
• 7. Creation of SQL scripts and PL/SQL programs for data extraction and data manipulation in the Siebel 7.8 environment. Several so-called change requests had to be handled during the project, whose task was the direct processing of the Siebel data set. For this it was necessary to get familiar with the logical and physical data model of Siebel 7.8. Another requirement was that it was a very large data set (about 80 million customers), so SQL optimization had to be taken into account to achieve acceptable run times (keywords: parallel query tuning, execution plans, subqueries, hints)

• Development and implementation of a replication solution with Oracle 10g Streams
• Replication of CRM data (several TB) with real-time downstream replication in different subsets to multiple target systems. The technologies used are Oracle Streams, RAC, RMAN, and ASM (10gR2) on IBM AIX 5. My responsibilities: design and setup of the Streams replication, setup of a development environment (4 LPARs), dynamic generation of capture and propagation rules to control the replication, custom rule-based handlers, Oracle DRDA Transparent Gateway for AIX, script-based deployment, deployment support, test programs, performance and load tests, documentation. Additional tools: SIEBEL 7.8 Client, SIEBEL 7.8 Tools, Oracle SQL Developer, Tortoise SVN.

• Administration of Oracle 8, 9, and 10 on Linux and HP UX cluster, migration, performance tuning, documentation
• The customer operated several business-critical databases whose availability had to be secured according to the SLA, while at the same time consolidating and migrating to new software and hardware platforms. Support for PL/SQL and Java developer teams.
• Preparation, organization, and execution of the migration of several business-critical databases to Oracle 9.2, consolidation and change of character sets to UTF8: planning, execution, documentation, test preparation, and acceptance.
• Work on the planning of a disaster recovery center, capacity planning for new database servers, planning and testing of failover scenarios, backup and recovery planning and setup.

• Due to a change of company name, the customer's data had to be reorganized and split up. Along with this content update to the new company structure, a migration from Oracle 8i to 9i Release 2 was carried out.
• My task was the technical execution, meaning the lossless transfer of the data while changing versions at the same time, coordination with the software vendors of the application software, and support during tests and approvals.
• As part of the restructuring, various measures to improve data security and availability were implemented: introduction of Oracle Enterprise Manager as a monitoring tool and data backup with RMAN, as well as integration into the company's existing backup strategy.

• Development of a facility management information system with CAD integration
• Application concept and development (AutoCAD 2000, MS Visual Studio, MS Access), database design (MS SQL Server / MSDE), replication, reports (MS Access), backup strategy, user support, training
• Continuation of the project from 12/00. The project aimed to transfer area measurements created in AutoCAD into an area database in order to obtain detailed evaluations for the basic data collection. In addition, inventory and built-in fixtures were to be recorded and linked with the areas. The scope of the tasks made a major expansion and improvement in performance necessary.
• The implementation of this target was done with MS Access, MS SQL Server, and VBA programming under AutoCAD. A data entry module, an administration module, and a number of customer-specific evaluation modules (areas according to DIN277 and GIF, inventory lists, ...) were programmed and integrated into the administration module via a standardized interface (extensibility). The measurements were carried out by mobile field teams, who synchronized their recorded data with the central server via replication (MSDE).
• The initial project covered several 100,000 square meters of area to be recorded. To achieve high efficiency, the ergonomics and performance of the application were continuously improved in close coordination with the users.

• Administration of Oracle 8/9 under Unix/Linux/NT, backup + recovery, setup of Enterprise Manager, VLM on 64-bit Unix, migration
• The customer needed support for day-to-day operations in their data center. There, in addition to a number of smaller servers, three DEC ALPHA GS80 machines ran under TRU64 Unix with VLM option. The databases had sizes of several 100 GB. Migration to Oracle 8.1.7.4.

• Migration of booking data, creation of PL/SQL programs for data migration. Data transfer with SQL*Loader, creation of PL/SQL scripts
• As part of a software change, the data records of a customer (contributions accounting) had to be migrated. For this, it was first necessary to gain basic accounting knowledge in double-entry bookkeeping. At the same time, the conversion to the euro took place (balancing entries). The migration was carried out from a proprietary text-based database system to Oracle 8i.

• Support in the administration of several Oracle 7/8 instances, application development with Oracle Forms and Reports 4.5.
• Worked as DBA in a team of 3 people. Main task was the maintenance of the field sales management system, backups, creating and running scripts, performance tuning. Introduction of Oracle Enterprise Manager. Further development of a reporting application for controlling under Forms / Reports 4.5.
• Monitoring the overall performance of the databases as well as identifying and resolving bottlenecks through SQL and instance tuning.

• Database development with MS Access
• Year 2000 conversion project. Inventory, review, and adaptation of MS Access 2.0 and 8.0 applications for the year 2000. Redevelopment of applications for company-specific reporting, control, and management.

• Development in C++, Oracle Database Architect and DBA
• Development of applications and components for the internet/eCommerce area. Areas: C++ programming under Windows NT 4.0, Oracle 7 administration, database design, design and programming of a database interface.

• Development of a sales management system in Visual Basic and MS Access
• For a customer in mechanical engineering, an application was developed according to the requirements specification for documenting and tracking customer contacts and sales activities.
