SC is a standards based administrative console framework that allows for all IBM products to integrate their administration panels seamlessly on the glass. It also provides common look and feel and user interaction across all IBM Products, and more usability features based on ISC in WAS 6.1 code base. Administrative functions are handled through portlets (using the JSR-168 standard), or components, within a single system.
- Design and Development:
- Leader of a small development team
- Client-side interportlet communication framework
- Portelt Refresh – feature giving the ability of JSR 168 portlets to self refresh its content on some conditions ( time interval, some data is updated )
- Form Persistence – feature giving the user option to preserve the entered field values across pages
- Develop a set of administrative JSR 168 portlets for ISC
- Proof of concept ISC module for passing JSR 168 portlets context using Dynamic UI and JSF Servlet Wrapper – The goal was to provide an ability to launch a given servlet url within an ISC console inside a JSR 168 portlets window on a given ISC page.

The goal of the project was to develop a set of on-demand reports for the company’s management. The organizational hierarchy also had to be incorporated into the report permissions. Before the project, all this information was distributed in Excel spreadsheets via email. After the successful completion of the project, all reports were accessible from a single point, and each user could see only the reports intended for them.

Implemented a strong set of automated functional test scenarios. The automated tests were used to validate the product’s functionality on the large number of operating systems it had to support. In this particular case, automated software testing significantly reduced the effort required to test the product on all required operating systems, while providing a consistent approach to test coverage, execution, and results reporting across all platforms.
A combination of Rational Functional Tester for GUI automation and the ANT framework for non-GUI script automation was used. Rational Functional Tester is a test automation tool that enables the validation of business-critical Web, Java, Eclipse, and .NET applications on Windows and Linux platforms. Rational Functional Tester GUI automation was implemented as follows: script recording by visually selecting objects under test; using Java to implement tasks and scenarios that validate application logic; and runtime execution of test scenarios. Non-GUI test elements were coded in ANT scripts and invoked through the Java code of Rational Functional Tester scenarios. In a distributed environment where command-line commands had to be executed on a remote machine—for example, on the server where GUI testing was performed while the client browser ran on another machine—IBM’s ATOMs Toolkit was used.
