Data Security

Hamburg
Enrique Gallardo

Last position:

Security Architect at Capgemini

I implemented a Zero-Trust architecture for robust, military-grade maritime container mini data centers based on VMware & Tanzu to support containerized GIS workloads for ground forces. The main focus was on securing communications, workload protection, and data access in contested electronic battle environments affected by jamming, interception, signal manipulation, and constantly changing operational conditions. I designed and architected use cases so that every element of workload, identity, and system could continue to operate independently and securely even in degraded or disrupted scenarios. In parallel, I defined the enterprise and solution security architecture with LeanIX, Bizzdesign, and HOPEX as enterprise architecture, repository, and governance platforms to maintain architecture inventory, relationships, traceability, target pictures, and security governance in complex environments. For the architectural designs, I used Sparx Enterprise Architect to describe formal architecture views, interfaces, trust boundaries, and system architecture in both IT and OT environments. IriusRisk was used for threat modeling of the solution to identify architecture-driven risks, derive security requirements, and detect countermeasures and design gaps directly from the solution models. Risk and compliance management was supported with Archer. Architecture decisions, control gaps, and operational risks were translated into controlled governance and auditable compliance measures. For documentation, collaboration, and visual design, I used Confluence to maintain Architecture Decision Records, Security Blueprints, and workflows. I used Lucidchart and draw.io to create design artifacts tailored to stakeholders. I also defined OT security concepts with support from electrical and mechanical engineers in the areas of oil, vehicle onboard systems, rail, power plants, pharma, gas turbines, and nuclear technology. I created the end-to-end OT security strategy, starting with global policy, developed into standards and procedures, and finally aligned with Bell-LaPadula, Purdue Model, SABSA, TOGAF ADM, CENELEC 50701, IEC 62443, and NIST standards. In addition, I worked with engineering team leads to identify critical KBP assets and place them under protective measures that segmented SCADA, PLC, and HMI assets. I drove collaboration between Security, IT, and OT teams to create standardized workflows and use cases for the OT security solution catalog, while integrating Defense-in-Depth and Zero-Trust principles into operational environments. A key part of my work was integrating multidisciplinary engineering, security, and operations stakeholders into a unified security blueprinting strategy and ensuring that architecture, threat modeling, governance, and documentation were technically strong and operationally practical.

About the technology

Endpoint security

Trend Micro is used to protect endpoints, servers, and cloud workloads from malware, ransomware, and risky activity. Companies bring in experts to configure policies, deploy agents, and keep protection aligned with business change. It fits managed security work as well as one-off hardening projects.

Common products

A good specialist knows the products teams actually run in production.

  • Trend Micro Apex One for endpoint control
  • Worry-Free Services for smaller estates
  • Deep Security for servers and workloads
  • Trend Vision One for broader threat visibility

Where it fits

Trend Micro often sits in Windows-heavy fleets, hybrid IT, and regulated environments where control matters. In Germany, it is common to see it used alongside Microsoft 365, virtual servers, and cloud workloads that need consistent security policy. Skilled professionals connect it cleanly to the rest of that stack.

What experts do

Strong Trend Micro experts handle rollout, policy design, alert tuning, and incident follow-up. They know how to reduce false positives without opening gaps. They also document the setup so internal teams can support it after handover.

When to bring one in

  • Migration from an older endpoint tool
  • Apex One or Deep Security tuning after noisy alerts
  • Cloud workload protection setup
  • Security review after an incident or audit
  • Support for mixed on-site and remote teams

What good work looks like

The best professionals understand both the product and the operating model around it. They can explain agent behavior, update cycles, exclusions, and reporting in plain language. They also know when Trend Micro should integrate with SIEM, identity, or backup processes rather than stand alone.

Frequently asked questions

Not sure where to start with Trend Micro? These answers cover the essentials.

Trend Micro is used to protect endpoints, servers, and cloud workloads from malware, ransomware, and other threats. It is also used to enforce security policy, watch alerts, and support incident response. Many teams rely on it as part of a broader security stack, not as a standalone tool.

Trend Micro is often compared with other endpoint protection and workload security products that aim to reduce malware risk and centralize policy control. The right choice depends on the mix of endpoints, servers, cloud workloads, and reporting needs. A strong specialist can explain where Trend Micro fits better than a general replacement discussion.

A solid Trend Micro specialist usually knows Apex One, Worry-Free Services, Deep Security, and Trend Vision One. The exact mix depends on whether the company protects user devices, servers, or cloud workloads. Experience with policy design and alert handling matters more than product names alone.

A strong Trend Micro freelancer often brings Windows and Linux administration, cloud security, networking, and identity knowledge. Experience with Microsoft 365, SIEM tools, and incident response is also useful. That mix helps the specialist fit the product into real operations instead of treating it as an isolated console.

Trend Micro projects that involve rollout, migration, or alert tuning usually need someone who has worked through real production issues before. Small tasks may be simple, but security policy changes can affect many users or servers. For that reason, companies usually want a specialist who can work independently and document decisions clearly.

Most Trend Micro work can be done remotely, including policy review, tuning, and reporting support. On-site time can help when the environment is complex, the rollout is sensitive, or stakeholders want direct workshops. In Germany, many companies use a hybrid setup and expect clear communication in English or German.

A strong Trend Micro specialist can explain why certain alerts fire, how exclusions are chosen, and how updates affect the environment. Look for clear examples from rollout, migration, or incident work, not vague tool familiarity. Good professionals also show how they hand over documentation and support future maintenance.

A good Trend Micro freelancer should ask which products are in scope, how the current environment is structured, and what problem the company wants solved. It also helps to clarify integration points, support access, and who approves policy changes. That avoids surprises once deployment or tuning starts.

The average hourly rate of freelancers in Germany who have used Trend Micro in their recent projects is 110 €, which corresponds to a daily rate of about 881 € based on an 8-hour working day.

Of the freelancers in Germany who have used Trend Micro in their recent projects, 75% hold at least a Bachelor's degree, 50% hold at least a Master's degree, and 17% hold a doctorate.

On average, freelancers in Germany who have used Trend Micro in their recent projects have 28 years of professional experience, with a single engagement typically lasting around 1.9 years.

The most common languages among freelancers in Germany who have used Trend Micro in their recent projects are German (100%), English (100%), and French (28%).

The most common industries among freelancers in Germany who have used Trend Micro in their recent projects are Information Technology (100%), Manufacturing (100%), and Automotive (83%).

The most common business areas among freelancers in Germany who have used Trend Micro in their recent projects are Information Technology (100%), Operations (100%), and Project Management (94%).
