Injection molding project, approx. 1,000 tools

During an 18-month optimization project, more than 1,000 injection molding tools were systematically analyzed. The goal was to collect and evaluate technical, quality-related, and financial data in order to derive solid recommendations for optimizing production processes, tools, batch sizes, and investments.

Setup of measurement center, QUINDOS

Concept and setup of an industrial measurement center, based on a self-developed concept for centralizing industrial metrology.

• Analysis of existing measurement and testing processes and identification of optimization potential
• Development of an overall concept for setting up a central measurement center, including needs, organization, and economic evaluation
• Definition of measurement strategies for a wide range of workpieces, materials, manufacturing processes, and customer requirements
• Creation of around 300 CNC measurement programs with QUINDOS on the tactile 3D coordinate measuring machine LEITZ – BROWN & SHARP
• Creation of additional measurement programs with the system software MeasureMind Plus for the optical OGP SmartScope ZIP video measurement system
• Development of suitable clamping concepts, including design and procurement of clamping and test fixtures
• Introduction of standardized measurement workflows, including documentation, archiving, and version control of measurement programs and clamping devices
• Transfer of manual series inspections to automated 3D coordinate measuring machines
• Development of operator-friendly inspection processes with prepared clamping devices and "one-click" program selection for repeatable self-inspections on automated 3D coordinate measuring machines in shift operation, including automatic test report generation
• Metrology support for development, toolmaking, production, purchasing, as well as internal and external customers for complex geometric questions
• Execution of first article inspections, series approvals, special measurements, root cause analyses, and target-actual comparisons.
