Sebastian (Karl Christoph) Hofmann-Lead Engineer for nautical applications

I am a freelance Lead Engineer for the development, optimization, and industrialization of complex machines, equipment, and technical systems with over 10 years of experience in plant and (special) mechanical engineering. My focus is on comprehensive development – from the first idea through concept phase and design to successful implementation and series production readiness.

I develop not only components but complete systems and solutions, especially where existing concepts reach their limits or need to be rethought. A special focus is on modularization and standardization of product portfolios to reduce development effort, shorten time-to-market, and create scalable solutions.

With my combination of a hands-on apprenticeship as an industrial mechatronics technician, my degree in mechatronic engineering, and my MBA&Eng, I combine practical manufacturing understanding with technical and economic systems thinking. This allows me to view development projects not only from a design perspective but also in terms of cost-effectiveness, scalability, and time-to-market.

I work consistently in a hands-on and manufacturing-oriented manner and bring the ability to strategically evaluate technical solutions and integrate them into economically viable product and process structures. Additionally, I have experience in fluid mechanics (CFD), prototype development, industrialization, and the design of complex assemblies and systems.

Furthermore, I am familiar with patent research, intellectual property strategies, and brand consulting and can not only develop technical innovations but also strategically classify and protect them.

I work in a structured, independent way with a clear focus on functional, economically viable solutions – especially in challenging projects with high technical complexity and time pressure.
