Multi-Agent Document-Generation Platform
Problem:
Turn a single prompt into a well-researched, structured and cited document, while keeping the user in control: every stage can be reviewed, corrected or revisited before the system moves on.
Architecture:
A multi-agent system orchestrated by a central controller. More than 20 specialised pydantic-ai subagents (understanding, structuring, planning, research, writing, assembly, cross-reference check, glossary, citation, reference table and more) pass results forward through a shared plan persisted in Postgres (asyncpg); a runner layer dispatches each task by name to its agent, and mechanical steps such as formatting, table of contents and list of figures are deterministic code instead of LLM calls. Provider (Anthropic or OpenAI) is a configuration setting, and responses stream over Server-Sent Events.
Hosting & Infrastructure:
Stateless container run as a Scaleway Serverless Container on a private network with managed PostgreSQL, object storage for finished documents and assets, and centralized log shipping (Loki / Scaleway Cockpit), provisioned with OpenTofu modules and deployed through GitLab CI; usage is metered per API key.
My Contribution & Key Decisions:
- Central decision controller: a satisfaction classifier turns the user's free-text feedback into a verdict (keep working, advance, cancel or revise an earlier task), and a middleware applies it to the plan. Plan progression supports jumping back to earlier tasks and re-running the stages after them.
- Research and writing fan-out: planning produces a plan from which a research-design agent generates individual research tasks and a writing-design agent generates individual writing tasks, each linked to the research it needs. Every task runs in its own dedicated agent with its own conversation history.
- Self-review and human-in-the-loop: after each step a critical-thinking agent reviews the output; the user can accept, refine, or ask questions about a critique before the plan advances.
- MCP integrations: two remote MCP servers, web search and internal document search, connected through pydantic-ai with retries and long-running tool-call timeouts. Classifier agents decide per task whether web search is needed, and a small model condenses raw search results into structured findings before they reach the writing agents.
Usage Metering:
Clients authenticate with an API key validated against a key-management service; consumption is charged in credits calculated from token usage per model plus a markup, and exhausted quota is answered with HTTP 429.

Product development (actively in development)
BankingGPT – AI assistant for complaint management in cooperative banking
- Security architecture at its core: no AI draft reaches the customer without human approval – the approval decision is stored in auditable code, not in the language model (monotonic: the model may increase the level, but never lower it).
- Genuine agentic components, each with its own boundaries: the model selects tools itself through an MCP server (read-only, allowlisted, capped, fail-safe); sensitive cases are sent via the open A2A protocol (JSON-RPC, Agent Card, message/send/tasks/get; client implemented independently) to a standalone specialist agent (securities/law), which never lowers the review requirement (pinned by tests).
- Evaluation-driven across ten analysis rounds; an independent review and blind tests uncovered a security defect that nine automated runs had missed.
- Voice AI frontend, responding live: covered cases are answered during the conversation, while sensitive cases are escalated before generation; measured response latency < 7 s (local GPU STT/TTS).
Stack & production readiness: Python, pydantic-ai, FastAPI/Celery, PostgreSQL/pgvector, FastMCP, fasta2a, Docker; multi-tenant (physical vector isolation per tenant), encrypted PII, OWASP-LLM-reviewed, 275 tests, CI/CD; provider-portable (Ollama / EU-Cloud-Vertex).
After-Sales Assistant – agentic RAG/GraphRAG assistant based on public OEM manuals (automotive after-sales)
- Genuinely agentic with LangGraph: ReAct agent with four tools and conversation memory – the model decides itself whether to use the manual (RAG, Chroma), a knowledge graph (GraphRAG, Neo4j/Cypher – decoding warning lights), or a workshop/booking service.
- Human-in-the-loop before the irreversible action: before every appointment booking, the graph pauses (interrupt) and obtains the driver's explicit confirmation – the same approval-before-action discipline as in BankingGPT, in a different framework.
- Eval as a CI gate: three-part scorecard (RAGAS grounding + deterministic tool-routing accuracy + DeepEval safety: does the answer mention the warning first in the case of a critical warning?) blocks the pipeline; provider-agnostic (OpenAI/Azure/Anthropic), FastAPI with token streaming.
Stack: Python, LangChain/LangGraph, Chroma, Neo4j, RAGAS/DeepEval, FastAPI, Docker.

About the technology
What PydanticAI does
PydanticAI is a Python framework for building production-ready applications with large language models. It brings type safety, structured outputs, dependency injection, validation, and clear error handling to agent workflows. Teams use it when an LLM feature must behave predictably inside a real application rather than remain a prompt experiment.
Agents and workflows
Experts use PydanticAI to create agents that select tools, follow typed instructions, manage dependencies, and return validated results. Typical deliverables include:
- Customer support and operations agents
- Document extraction and classification pipelines
- Research, reporting, and decision-support workflows
- Tool-using assistants connected to business systems
Python ecosystem
PydanticAI works naturally with Python services and the wider Pydantic ecosystem. Strong specialists understand models, validators, async programming, dependency injection, testing, and API design, while also working with providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, and local model runtimes. They can connect agents to FastAPI, databases, queues, observability tools, and existing application logic.
When companies need experts
Freelance expertise is useful when a team is moving from a prototype to a dependable AI feature, replacing loosely structured prompt code, or integrating an agent with sensitive operational data. It also helps when model changes, tool failures, latency, tracing, and evaluation have become difficult to control. In Germany, remote delivery is common, while on-site workshops can support product, security, and engineering alignment.
Quality signals
A capable PydanticAI professional defines clear output models and dependency boundaries before writing prompts. They test normal and failure paths, validate tool arguments, handle retries deliberately, and make model behavior observable. Look for practical evidence of typed Python systems, provider integration, secure data access, and evaluation methods that measure whether an agent completes useful tasks.
Delivery and collaboration
Projects often start with an agent contract, a small set of tools, representative inputs, and explicit failure rules. Specialists then implement the workflow, connect it to application services, and document how prompts, models, schemas, and dependencies can change safely. Clear written communication matters for distributed teams, especially when domain experts and technical stakeholders work across languages and locations.
Frequently asked questions
Quick answers to the questions that come up most around PydanticAI.
PydanticAI is used to build typed, testable AI agents and LLM workflows in Python. It supports structured results, tool calling, dependency injection, provider integrations, and validation so model output can be used safely by application code.
PydanticAI focuses on typed Python patterns, explicit dependencies, and validated outputs. LangChain offers a broader component ecosystem, while raw model APIs provide more direct control but require teams to implement more workflow, validation, and error-handling logic themselves.
A strong PydanticAI specialist usually brings Python, Pydantic, async programming, API design, testing, and database integration. Experience with FastAPI, model providers, prompt evaluation, observability, authentication, and secure data handling is also valuable.
The right level depends on the scope and risk of the system. A small proof of concept needs solid Python and LLM integration skills, while a production agent benefits from experience with typed schemas, failure handling, testing, security, monitoring, and deployment.
Yes. PydanticAI projects are well suited to remote collaboration because schemas, agent contracts, tests, and integrations can be reviewed asynchronously. German teams should agree early on communication language, data access, security requirements, working hours, and any need for on-site workshops.
PydanticAI supports integrations with major model providers, including OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google Gemini, as well as other supported backends and local runtimes. The suitable choice depends on required capabilities, data policies, latency, reliability, and the way the application evaluates results.
Ask how the specialist defines output models, validates tool calls, handles provider failures, and tests agent behavior. A credible PydanticAI professional can explain trade-offs clearly and show how tracing, evaluation, security, and maintainability are built into delivery.
A typical PydanticAI engagement can deliver an agent design, typed schemas, tool integrations, provider configuration, tests, observability, and deployment documentation. The exact scope depends on whether the work covers a prototype, a production feature, or improvements to an existing Python service.
The average hourly rate of freelancers in Germany who have used PydanticAI in their recent projects is 77 €, which corresponds to a daily rate of about 613 € based on an 8-hour working day.
