Data Security

Hamburg
Enrique G.

Last position:

Security Architect at Capgemini

I implemented a Zero-Trust architecture for robust, military-grade maritime container mini data centers based on VMware & Tanzu to support containerized GIS workloads for ground forces. The main focus was on securing communications, workload protection, and data access in contested electronic battle environments affected by jamming, interception, signal manipulation, and constantly changing operational conditions. I designed and architected use cases so that every element of workload, identity, and system could continue to operate independently and securely even in degraded or disrupted scenarios. In parallel, I defined the enterprise and solution security architecture with LeanIX, Bizzdesign, and HOPEX as enterprise architecture, repository, and governance platforms to maintain architecture inventory, relationships, traceability, target pictures, and security governance in complex environments. For the architectural designs, I used Sparx Enterprise Architect to describe formal architecture views, interfaces, trust boundaries, and system architecture in both IT and OT environments. IriusRisk was used for threat modeling of the solution to identify architecture-driven risks, derive security requirements, and detect countermeasures and design gaps directly from the solution models. Risk and compliance management was supported with Archer. Architecture decisions, control gaps, and operational risks were translated into controlled governance and auditable compliance measures. For documentation, collaboration, and visual design, I used Confluence to maintain Architecture Decision Records, Security Blueprints, and workflows. I used Lucidchart and draw.io to create design artifacts tailored to stakeholders. I also defined OT security concepts with support from electrical and mechanical engineers in the areas of oil, vehicle onboard systems, rail, power plants, pharma, gas turbines, and nuclear technology. I created the end-to-end OT security strategy, starting with global policy, developed into standards and procedures, and finally aligned with Bell-LaPadula, Purdue Model, SABSA, TOGAF ADM, CENELEC 50701, IEC 62443, and NIST standards. In addition, I worked with engineering team leads to identify critical KBP assets and place them under protective measures that segmented SCADA, PLC, and HMI assets. I drove collaboration between Security, IT, and OT teams to create standardized workflows and use cases for the OT security solution catalog, while integrating Defense-in-Depth and Zero-Trust principles into operational environments. A key part of my work was integrating multidisciplinary engineering, security, and operations stakeholders into a unified security blueprinting strategy and ensuring that architecture, threat modeling, governance, and documentation were technically strong and operationally practical.

About the technology

API testing and collaboration

Postman is an API platform for sending requests, validating responses and collaborating around interfaces. Its workspace supports collection-based testing for REST, GraphQL and other HTTP services, from early exploration to release checks. Teams use the Postman app and web experience to share repeatable API workflows.

Collections and automation

Collections organize requests, variables, authentication settings and example responses into reusable test flows. Postman specialists write scripts with JavaScript to check status codes, headers, payloads and business rules. They connect collections to scheduled runs, CI pipelines and release processes through the Postman CLI or Newman.

  • Build collections for manual and automated API checks
  • Configure environments, variables and secure credentials
  • Create data-driven tests for changing request scenarios
  • Run checks in CI with Newman or the Postman CLI

Documentation and governance

Postman helps teams publish API documentation from collections and keep examples close to the interface they describe. Strong professionals establish naming conventions, workspace structures and review practices that keep shared assets usable. They also connect tests with OpenAPI definitions, mock servers and monitoring workflows where appropriate.

When expertise matters

Companies bring in freelance Postman expertise when an API suite has grown difficult to maintain or releases lack dependable regression checks. It is also valuable during integration programs, platform migrations and quality improvements across distributed teams. In Hamburg, specialists may work remotely or alongside local product, backend and quality teams, depending on the delivery model.

  • Replace fragile manual API checks with repeatable collections
  • Align tests with OpenAPI specifications and changing contracts
  • Improve coverage for partner, mobile and internal integrations
  • Prepare API checks for continuous delivery

Skills around Postman

Effective Postman work requires more than knowing the request interface. Professionals understand HTTP, REST conventions, JSON, authentication methods, OAuth, tokens, webhooks and service dependencies. Useful adjacent skills include JavaScript scripting, Git, CI systems, OpenAPI, Newman, the Postman CLI and observability practices.

What strong professionals deliver

Strong specialists turn vague test goals into clear, maintainable checks with meaningful assertions and safe environment handling. They distinguish a useful contract test from a superficial response check and make failures easy to diagnose. They explain collection structure, document assumptions and leave teams with workflows they can run and extend confidently.

Frequently asked questions

Need clarity? These are the questions we hear most often about Postman.

Postman is used to explore, test, document and monitor APIs by sending requests and checking responses. Companies use collections to share integration scenarios, validate contracts and support regression testing across development and delivery teams.

Postman combines request exploration, collection-based testing, documentation, mocking and team collaboration in one API workspace. Insomnia can suit teams seeking a focused client, while SoapUI is often chosen for specialized SOAP or service-testing workflows; the right choice depends on protocols, governance and existing automation.

A strong Postman specialist understands HTTP, JSON, REST, GraphQL and authentication schemes such as OAuth. JavaScript assertions, OpenAPI, Git, CI pipelines, Newman and the Postman CLI are useful when API checks must run beyond the local workspace.

The right level depends on the scope, not simply on how many requests a collection contains. A small request setup may need practical API testing knowledge, while shared governance, contract checks and CI automation call for a Postman professional who has handled integrations and maintained test suites.

Postman work is often well suited to remote collaboration because collections, environments and documentation can be reviewed digitally. Hamburg companies should still agree on working language, access controls, meeting cadence and how the specialist will coordinate with local product and delivery teams.

Review whether Postman collections have clear names, isolated environments, safe secrets and assertions that test meaningful behavior. Ask for examples of failure diagnosis, CI integration and documentation, rather than judging quality by the number of requests alone.

Postman can cover API-focused functional, regression and smoke checks, but it does not replace every test layer. Browser automation, unit tests, load testing or security testing may require dedicated tools that connect to the same delivery pipeline.

A freelancer working with Postman should clarify the API specification, authentication model, environments, test data and ownership of shared workspaces before starting. They should also understand whether the deliverable is a collection, a documented API workflow, CI automation or a broader quality process.

The average hourly rate of freelancers in Hamburg, Germany who have used Postman in their recent projects is 92 €, which corresponds to a daily rate of about 737 € based on an 8-hour working day.

Of the freelancers in Hamburg, Germany who have used Postman in their recent projects, 92% hold at least a Bachelor's degree, 33% hold at least a Master's degree, and 8% hold a doctorate.
