Development of an AI-supported system for lead generation

As part of an in-house development project, a pipeline for automated lead generation was created as the second stage of a preceding system for project monitoring. Based on a list of freelance project URLs (freelancermap), qualified lead records are generated, including company, contact person, official and personal email address, and the appropriate form of address (informal/formal). The technologies used were Python (openpyxl, requests) as well as an LLM agent workflow in VS Code (GitHub Copilot Chat) with a custom slash command and extensive rule set; search APIs (Serper.dev) are connected for research. My tasks included the full concept and development. The core is a rule set of around 480 lines that guides the LLM agent deterministically through extraction, website and email lookup, duplicate matching (against existing provider lists), and the creation of a structured JSON output. Deterministic steps (Excel matching, web/email search, pattern derivation) were moved into Python helper scripts. Other requirements included validating the results through versioned blind runs against a reference, iterative refinement of the rule set, and a swappable search provider layer for cost and stability reasons.

About the technology

Hosting Control

cPanel is a web hosting control panel for managing Linux-based hosting accounts through a graphical interface. It brings files, databases, domains, email, backups, SSL certificates, and resource settings into one environment. WHM, or WebHost Manager, provides the broader server and reseller administration layer.

Core Capabilities

Professionals use cPanel to configure and maintain hosting services without requiring every customer to work directly on the command line. Typical delivery includes:

  • Creating hosting accounts, packages, domains, and subdomains
  • Managing MySQL or MariaDB databases and user permissions
  • Setting up mailboxes, forwarding, spam controls, and DNS records
  • Installing SSL certificates and enforcing secure connections

Ecosystem And Tools

Strong cPanel specialists understand the Linux distributions, web servers, and services behind the interface. Their toolkit may include Apache or LiteSpeed, PHP versions, PHP-FPM, MySQL, MariaDB, Exim, Dovecot, DNS services, CloudLinux, Imunify, Softaculous, and JetBackup. They also work with shell access, cron, Git, APIs, command-line utilities, and migration scripts when panel settings alone are not enough.

When Expertise Helps

Companies bring in freelance expertise when hosting operations need a controlled change, a reliable migration, or a clear diagnosis. Common triggers include:

  • Moving accounts from another panel or hosting provider
  • Fixing mail delivery, DNS propagation, SSL, or permission problems
  • Hardening servers and reviewing backups, updates, and access controls
  • Standardizing reseller packages and repeatable account provisioning

Project Delivery

A cPanel project may involve a website launch, a hosting consolidation, a reseller environment, or ongoing operational support. In Germany, remote collaboration is often practical when access procedures, maintenance windows, and documentation are agreed in advance; on-site work can matter for organizations with local infrastructure or strict internal processes. German or English communication should match the people responsible for operations and approvals.

Strong Professionals

Quality is visible in careful change planning, tested backups, least-privilege access, and clear rollback steps. Experienced professionals distinguish panel settings from underlying service failures and verify results through logs, DNS checks, mail tests, resource monitoring, and external availability checks. They document what changed, protect credentials, explain trade-offs, and leave a maintainable setup rather than a collection of temporary fixes.

Frequently asked questions

Curious about cPanel? Here are the answers that come up again and again.

cPanel is a web-based control panel for managing Linux hosting accounts. Companies use it to handle websites, domains, email, databases, files, SSL certificates, backups, and DNS without performing every task through shell commands.

cPanel offers a familiar interface and a large hosting ecosystem, especially for Linux environments and reseller operations. Plesk supports a broader mix of operating systems and workflows, while command-line management offers deeper control but requires more operational knowledge and automation work.

A strong cPanel professional should understand Linux administration, Apache or LiteSpeed, PHP, MySQL or MariaDB, DNS, SMTP, IMAP, SSL, backups, and server security. Experience with WHM, CloudLinux, Git, shell scripting, and hosting APIs is useful for larger or more automated environments.

The right level depends on the task rather than a fixed time period. A routine account setup may need a hosting specialist, while a migration, mail incident, security review, or multi-server redesign calls for a professional who can diagnose the underlying Linux services as well as the cPanel configuration.

Yes, most cPanel administration can be performed remotely through secure access, documented procedures, and an agreed maintenance window. On-site collaboration may be preferable when the work involves local hardware, restricted networks, or internal approval processes; German or English communication should be defined at the start.

Ask how the professional handles backups, rollback planning, access control, DNS changes, mail testing, and service logs. A capable cPanel specialist explains risks clearly, tests changes in a controlled way, documents the final configuration, and does not treat the panel interface as a substitute for understanding the server.

cPanel fits many shared hosting, reseller, agency, and small-to-medium website environments. It may be less suitable when a company needs a highly customized stack, container-first operations, strict infrastructure-as-code practices, or a control panel aligned with a different operating system.

Freelance professionals commonly create and migrate accounts, configure domains and email, install SSL certificates, tune PHP settings, repair permissions, investigate delivery failures, and set up backups. With cPanel and WHM, they may also define reseller packages, automate provisioning, manage updates, and review server security.

The average hourly rate of freelancers in Germany who have used cPanel in their recent projects is 99 €, which corresponds to a daily rate of about 788 € based on an 8-hour working day.

Of the freelancers in Germany who have used cPanel in their recent projects, 80% hold at least a Bachelor's degree.

On average, freelancers in Germany who have used cPanel in their recent projects have 14 years of professional experience, with a single engagement typically lasting around 3.1 years.
