  • Omnitele provides consulting and expert services for telecom operators and regulators in network strategy, design and quality assurance. The company was founded in 1988 to set up the world's first GSM network. Since then, Omnitele has completed over 1000 projects in over 80 countries around the globe.
  • I took part in "Consolidated Network Design and Optimisation" project for the mobile operator Mobilink Pakistan (daughter company of VimpelCom). Mobilink Pakistan has acquired Warid Telecom Pakistan back in November 2015. Combined, they had more than 50 million subscribers. Our task was to merge these two networks into one and to increase the capacity of all transmission links throughout the country.
  • Initially, my task was to collect all transmission network related data from the customer, from multiple instances of network planning tools from different regional offices with unsynchronized databases, with partially overlapping (and inconsistent) information.
  • In parallel, I was auditing the customer transmission network design, preparing reports with proposals for change. The process was done in multiple iterations and the final set of data was used to populate our network planning software tool.
  • Later on, I was responsible for transmission network planning in city of Karachi and surrounding area.

  • LTE / single RAN / All IP RAN rollout (i.e. swap)

  • Network wide lub interface capacity upgrade

  • Major network coverage and capacity upgrade to accommodate former Orange subscribers (T-Mobile acquired Orange Netherlands. Orange network was dismantled and T-Mobile network had to be heavily expanded (customer base increase more than 100%)).

  • Shortly after dismantling the Orange network, T-Mobile was fined by the telecom authorities in the Netherlands for not fulfilling the Orange licence requirements. I was delegated as the only transmission planning representative in the project team established to fulfil the Orange license requirements and prevent another fine and ultimately loosing the license. We have completed the task successfully.
